How many of us have heard that statement a time or two in our lives??

Other people’s unmet expectations ending with a on slotย of shamming ๐Ÿ™…. NO FUN and in many cases unwarranted.

Yet shame is used all around us. We shame our children into doing the right thing, we shame our friends for hurting our feelings our failing us, we shame our spouses into doing what we want and the list goes on and on. ๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿ™ˆ

We use shame as a โ€˜motivating toolโ€™, yet has it EVER positively worked??

Yes, maybe it will change the behavior in the short term but in the long run it ends in resentment, regret and disapproval.๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž


A better way of communicating our needs, wants and desires. A better way of communicating our disapproval or dissatisfaction with something. A better way of motivating one another.

SHAME IS considered to be the MOST DESTRUCTIVE EMOTION a human can harbor. Most destructive!!

So letโ€™s put an end to the should filled shames and start learning a better way. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

For most of us the answer is no. We are too distracted, too overwhelmed, too disconnected to really know how to โ€˜take care of ourselvesโ€™. ๐Ÿ‘Ž๐Ÿ‘Ž

This has become a crisis in our society that needs our attention. ย When we lose the essential connection to ourselves how can we ever expect to be happy or make others happy?

Sure we can fake it for a while but for lasting joy to flourish ๐Ÿ’—in our lives, we need to be deeply connected to ourselves.

Overcome Emotional Eating

You might not know this about me, but I struggled for years with an eating disorder. I was a severe emotional eater. ๐Ÿ˜ข

What I didnโ€™t know at the time was my emotional eating was how I coped with feeling less than. ๐Ÿ’”

I could quickly numb out from the feeling to temporarily feel relief. But the relief was short lived as the self-shaming cycle begin. ๐ŸŒช

Whatever problems I was struggling with seem to disappear behind the mask of self-loathing and self-hatred. It was the perfect distraction and yet the pain was twice as severe. ๐Ÿ‘Ž

It sucked.

Untangling the emotional eating mental trap that keeps us hostage๐Ÿ”ซ isnโ€™t an easy one, but it is the most rewarding investment you could ever make

I say investment because honestly, you canโ€™t overcome this on your own. Thereโ€™s no magic pill ๐Ÿ’Šyou can take to make it all go away, no, rather you will need to invest in your mental and emotional self.

This investment could just be time ๐Ÿ•’, but in most cases, like it was for me, it was an investment of time, effort and money. Although the thought of an investment at that time felt overwhelming and painful, I look back now willing to have paid double ๐Ÿ’ธfor the rewards I have receive

I share this to encourage you. To encourage you to do something, hire someone, seek guidance and for the love of goodness sake, get out from hiding ๐Ÿ™ˆin the closet!

Expectations + Heartache ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”

This quote couldn’t be more true: โ€œExpectations are the root to most heartacheโ€

– unknown.

The expectation that are child will listen, our parents will love, respect or honor us. ๐Ÿ’”The expectation that our spouse will always be on time, or that our friends will never forget out birthdays.๐Ÿ’”

Our lives are filled with both spoken & unspoken expectations. These verbal and non-verbal contracts allows us to feel connected along with feeling deeply betrayed ๐Ÿ˜”.

โ“But are our expectations fair or do they need to be examinedโ“

Honestly, most of our expectations arenโ€™t fair at all ๐Ÿ‘Ž! In fact we hold them over people without ever having a conversation, agreement, taken into consideration their needs/wants or even given a second thought to whether or not they are even capable of upholding our expectations ๐Ÿ˜ฑ.

This is a recipe for heartache ๐Ÿ’”and disappointment.

I donโ€™t believe there is 1-person on this planet ๐ŸŒ who doesnโ€™t want to change some aspect of themselves or life.

Desiring change is healthy ๐Ÿ“(well, as long as your motives are healthy). But in most cases itโ€™s also quite difficult.

I mean honestly, who hasnโ€™t set their intention to change and ended with a big-o hand smack to the face. ๐Ÿ˜“

But, why? Why is it so hard!! ย ๐Ÿค”

Well, truthfully it isnโ€™t because youโ€™re weak, pathetic, lame, or a loser, like your mind might tell you. No. Rather, itโ€™s because the change you desire isnโ€™t a neuro habit your brain recognizes and thus it defaults back to the old behaviors (over and over again).

Itโ€™s nice knowing youโ€™re not broken, isnโ€™t it! ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—
